Indiana Overnight Lead Cook

The Lead Cook, in collaboration with the Dining Hall Manager, plans, prepares, and purchases food for all the meals for scheduled Guest Groups throughout the Spring and Fall and SpringHill’s Summer Camp Experiences. The Lead Cook is responsible to maintain a high standard of cleanliness, organization, and quality food. The Lead Cook is not responsible to personally be at every meal, but lead to lead preparation and training the kitchen staff to succeed.

Key Job Functions
•Food preparation
•Maintaining food supply including ordering, stocking and dating food
•Comply with national and local nutritional standards
•Equip others to prepare and food in Lead Cooks absence
•Implement appropriate food allergy and dietary needs developed by Dining Hall Manager
•Complete other duties as assigned by the Dining Hall Manger

Experience and Qualifications Requirements
•Commitment to the mission and ministry philosophy of SpringHill
•Ability to respond to multiple simultaneous issues by prioritizing problems and finding creative solutions
•Knowledge of food allergens and experience in preparation of special dietary food
•Ability to communicate and read clearly and concisely
•Knowledge of current health and safety laws and practices
•Ability to detect unsafe equipment and take the appropriate actions to maintain safety.
•ServSafe Certification required (with the ability to maintain certification during employment, this certificate can be acquired after job is accepted).

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
•Must be able to lift, bend, and twist
•Ability to push and pull loads
•Must be able to lift frequently up to 35 lbs.; occasionally 35-100 lbs. with assistance
•Good hand-eye coordination
