UBC Maintenance Position
Upward Bound Camp is a Christian Camp serving teens and adults with developmental disabilities. We are looking for someone to live on our 18 acre property in Gates, OR. Duties include animal care, yard and building maintenance support. We need someone in good physical health, with no lifting restrictions, as well as repair and maintenance experience.
We have three goats, three hens, three roosters, three rabbits and two turkeys (soon to be three turkeys—apparently, three is a thing for us.) The Executive Director owns a very friendly, two year old, Labrador/Golden Retriever mix. Jango mostly goes where our ED but on rare occasions he requires someone to hang out with.
Many of our campus buildings burned in the 2020 fires here in Oregon. We are working to rebuild and continue to serve campers as we can. In the Summer of 2021 we purchased big, beautiful bell tents to house campers and staff. We had no running water or electricity to most of the campus. We were gifted a manufactured home, The Parrish House, in 2020 which was used for offices, nurses station and our kitchen.
We are currently working to establish water and power to our historic 1923 Old School Building in an effort to prepare our kitchen for summer sessions which will also allow us to return to our administrative and health care offices. The Parrish House will then be designated as housing for an on-site maintenance manager.
A number of our buildings were lost in the Santiam Canyon fires in September 2020 and we are working to rebuild. There is the potential for work with the construction crew as we begin the rebuild in 2022. Background check and clear driving record required. Personal pets will be considered but they must be well behaved, licensed and vaccinated.
20-25 Hours per week
Opportunity to increase hours to full time with benefits as we rebuild.
