The Program Director provides leadership and oversight to all programs of Long View Ranch including Summer Camp, Retreats, Guest Services, Events, and LIVE Bold (intern program).
Title: Program Director
Reports To: Executive Director
Manages: Staff and volunteers involved with Guest Services, Retreats, Camps, Horse Program, Events, and LIVE BOLD.
Until an Operations Director is hired, the Program Director will also assist in all areas of Long View Ranch and in overseeing staff and volunteers in Housekeeping, Maintenance, Food Service, Projects, Buildings, and Grounds.
Purpose: To fulfill our mission by leading the overall program of Long View Ranch and ensuring excellent relations across all departments, to all guests, and to the public.
As a part of the leadership team for Long View Ranch, this position requires leading
by example in the area of our mission, vision, values, belief statements, policies and procedures. Our leaders are expected to develop themselves, do whatever it takes to fulfill the duties of their role within the organization, and utilize creative problem solving.
Plan, promote, lead and oversee all aspects of Guest Services, Retreats, Camps, Events, and other programs of LVR
Prepare Job Descriptions, interview, hire, train, develop, promote, and fire staff
Provide oversight and leadership to the staff and volunteers involved in Program
Weekly meetings with staff/volunteers
Create Program Budget
Ensure excellent cross-department communications
Keep team in line with mission, vision, values, beliefs, policies and procedures of LVR
Have an in-depth understanding of what your team needs and are up against
Promote the ministry: speaking, marketing and public relations will be continual
Perform assessments for capital needs
Meet with key stakeholders and present info for needs in a clear professional manner for presentation to camp leadership and board members
Office and Administrative work as needed
Assist in marketing and promoting LVR through social media, advertising, website, etc.
Long View Ranch operates year-round. Serving people in a way that shares the love of Jesus and presents the gospel is our number one priority, and ALL staff must participate in serving others as needed. Tasks may include cooking, cleaning, facilitating group activities, running retail locations, general maintenance of camp property, and work projects as needed. Weekend and extended week-long work is required. As of the writing of this job description, LVR has a small staff and working in all areas and departments is an essential aspect of this ministry.
Abilities, Skills, Experience:
The “ideal” candidate will have:
Leadership Character and Servant Hearted Leadership
Experience in camp and retreat ministry.
Ability to manage a variety of projects and people simultaneously.
Ability to lead and solve problems creatively.
Ability to perform tasks regularly and on time
Have a deep understanding of each area under your management
Experience in wilderness adventure.
Work Context: This job will be performed both on location at Long View Ranch and away from LVR as needed.
Travel: Travel is required for this position.
Ability to sit and focus on a singular task for several hours at a time.
Ability to walk for long distances across varying terrain.
Ability to spend significant time outdoors in a mountainous environment is required
Ability and eagerness to lead groups of people on wilderness and adventure trips
Some lifting of heavy objects will likely be required.
Work Environment: Time will be spent inside and outside depending on the need.
Compensation: Salary, On-site housing (not required), Paid sick/vacation time.
