2022 Summer Camp Nurse

Camp Nurse at Fort Bluff Camp

The Camp Nurse is a position that is vital to the success and safety of our summer camps. The Camp Nurse will be required to live on site for the duration of our signature summer camp programming. The primary function of the Camp Nurse is to provide emergency care in minor emergency situations and dispense medication safely for campers. The Camp Nurse will be on-call overnight if there is an emergency.

Responsibilities Include:

-Safely dispense camper medications
-Make sure inventory of First-Aid kits are supplied and maintained
-Keep daily log of camper nurse visits and document all actions
-Accept, organize, and store all prescription medications and over-the-counter medications
-Administer prescription or over-the-counter medications as needed
-Provide acute illness and injury management
-Communication between campers and parents regarding injuries or illness
-Provide First Aid for: cuts, scrapes, bruises, insect bites/stings, dehydration, sunburn, and other acute illnesses
-Be a medical resource that would bridge the gap between basic medical knowledge and calling 911
-Monitor health of staff and campers
-Live on-site for the duration of our Signature summer camp programming
-Provide on-call service for overnight emergencies
-Perform other duties as assigned by Camp Director

Eligibility Requirements:

-Licensed as a Registered Nurse or LPN in the state of Tennessee
-Current CPR/First Aid/AED Certification
-Experience working with children and young adults
-21 years of age or older
-Ability to make decisions and take initiative under pressure
-Be able to organize documents and keep extremely detailed records
-Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of guests
-A clear understanding of the mission and purpose of Fort Bluff Camp
-Adherence to Fort Bluff Camp’s Staff Policies for conduct and professionalism
-Evening and weekend work will be required as job duties demand

7/11/22 - 7/15/22 Teen Camp 3
