We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic and an education in accounting to serve in the much-needed role of Staff Accountant. This position can be onsite in Glorieta, NM with housing, or fully remote. This role will operate in a hybrid team environment with both remote and on-site employees. This position will provide accounting services for our 2 Eagle Adventure Camps and other camp partners through the Shared Services group. JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Staff Accountant, Entry Level
Division: Shared Services
Reports To: Accounting Manager, Zane Stevens

Job Purpose: To fulfill our mission as part of a team to provide accurate and timely information so that decisions can be made to continue the mission in a sustainable way for our two camps: Glorieta Camps in New Mexico, and Camp Eagle in Texas, as well as work for external camps as clients for our Bookkeeping and Accounting services. This position can take place in New Mexico at the Shared Services offices at Glorieta Camps, or from any location as a fully remote job. Shared Services is a central office that provides administrative support to Eagle Adventure Camps as well as partner camps in the areas of general administration, board relations, executive functions, accounting, HR/Risk Management, and IT.

Overall Responsibility:
This person will also be responsible for working with the Accounting Team, which is located at Glorieta and remotely, and may provide services to EA Camps as well as external camps.

Specific Responsibilities:
• Work on all aspects of G/L, A/R, and A/P
• Accounts Payable will encompass the processing of all accounts payable transactions in a timely and accurate manner ensuring proper classification. This includes reviewing vendor statements, invoices, and resolving discrepancies.
• Accounts Receivable will encompass the accurate posting and classification of received payments, entries to classify receipts as deferred revenue, revenue or payments towards AR, preparing deposits, and making deposits.
• Reconcile monthly credit card statements
• General Ledger maintenance
• Process employee payroll, reimbursements and expense statements
• Enter and reconcile transactions
• Bank statement reconciliations
• Monthly financial reports for management
• Assisting with audit preparation and audit field work in conjunction with external auditors
• Perform other general office duties as needed
• Assist in all areas of operation as requested by management
• Work with the accounting team to cross train in many areas in order to achieve timely record keeping and appropriate segregation of duties.
• Adapt to and learn new technologies and systems quickly, in an ever-changing organization that seeks to improve processes regularly.
• Communicate with the camps’ personnel to gather information needed in order to post checks properly to customers, process payroll in a timely manner, etc.

The “ideal” candidate will have:
• Experience communicating with organization employees in order to gather needed information for accounting on a regular basis
• Desire to take personal responsibility for tasks/accounts and maintain accuracy and timeliness of reporting
• Desire to work with other leaders and continually improve processes and procedures to gain efficiency and accuracy
• Ability and desire to participate in employee development plans within the department

Education, Abilities, Skills, Experience:
The “ideal” candidate will have:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or 4 years’ experience in the duties listed
• Must be knowledgeable in accounting principles such as debits and credits, A/R, A/P, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Experience with payroll
• Ability to communicate well with team members, staff, and guests
• A strong desire to learn new things quickly
• A strong sense of self-motivation
• Willingness to perform routine tasks regularly and on time, with deadlines daily, weekly and monthly for most tasks
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Have a natural ability or strong desire for organization
• Willingness to perform many tasks alone
• Experience with Salesforce and Intacct is a plus.
• Strong passion for the Camps’ mission coupled with the ability to identify/integrate into the culture.
• Strong spiritual life and devotion to Christ as well as experience sharing personal testimony in a variety of venues and being vulnerable and open about personal faith journey.
• Demonstrated ability to cultivate healthy relationships, to maintain strong family ties, and to offer gracious hospitality to a wide demographic that includes people of diverse ethnicity, religious affiliation, age, and lifestyles.

Reporting Relationships: The Staff Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager.

Travel: Possible infrequent travel to trainings, conferences and other properties.

Physical Demands: Ability to: lift heavy loads occasionally up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment: This position is primarily office based.
