Retail Coordinator(RC)

Responsible to: Director of Development and Communications (DDC)

Responsible for:
The Retail Coordinator position at New Life Ranch is responsible for the oversight of all retail operations. This is “currently” inclusive of two store locations and soon an online store with a curated selection of goods we sell in the physical stores. Responsibilities include merchandise development, selection, procurement, inventory management including sales analysis, general store operations and staffing. Key responsibility is to maximize efficiency through clean operations and optimizing productivity of in-stock inventory.

Vision for position:
The Retail Coordinator is a new role for the organization and will play a strategic and important role in creating net revenue that will assist in advancing the operational budget of the organization. This will be achieved by applying common best practice measures in monitoring inventory and sales analysis to maximize the productivity of items that are being sold in each location. Strategic product selection and merchandising choices will also play an important role in success. Additionally, good staff training during the summer and setting expectations around customer experience and a daily/weekly store operations cadence will also be key in achieving areas of improvement for store performance.

Specific Responsibilities:
1. Retail Product Processing:
a. Development and procurement of custom products as well as management of procurement of branded products with NLR customization. Connect the dots between camp culture and appropriate products.
b. Coordination and procurement of all snacks and food items inclusive of drinks, Icee replenishment and other perishable goods.
c. Pricing and tagging of all received goods in preparation for stocking.
d. Monitor inventory and project re-orders in a timely manner to stay in-stock on performing merchandise
e. Maintain a product merchandise and pricing grid for all inventory
f. Set pricing for targeted margin goals

2. Store Management:
a. Maintain cleanliness.
i. sweep, dust as needed.
ii. wipedown doors and surfaces regularly
iii. keep stock room clean and well organized
b. Maintain operations of Point of Sale systems.
c. Set hours of operation at each site
d. Monitor web store to assure operational integrity

3. Financial Responsibilities:
a. Coordinate with DCC and finance coordinator to create and monitor annual budget
b. Prepare and monitor retail budget in cooperation with DDC and Finance Coordinator
c. Analyze sales/sell-through rates and revenue reports in order to inform inventory management at each location and re-orders
d. Maintain accurate register count and reporting to Finance Coordinator weekly. (Daily reconciliation in Summer)
e. Coordinate with the Finance Coordinator to establish and maintain effective Store financial controls and cash handling procedures.

4. Staffing:
a. Interview identified candidates for summer positions as well as maintain a bench of volunteers, part time and available staff for retreat, seasonal needs at each location.
b Provide onboarding/training to improve staff knowledge and store operations. Should be inclusive of:
i. Store schedule in summer
ii. expectations for each shift; checklist for daily operations;
1. Open/close process
2. merchandising standards
3. restocking
4. daily clean
5. register reconciliation
iii. Point of Sale systems and operations

5. Customer Service:
a. Manage service calls pertaining to anything related to retail operations and on-line orders.
b. Servicing parents during summer on camper accounts

6. Marketing strategy:
a. Sale of discontinued and/or discounted inventory
b. Brainstorm and develop calendar for on-line marketing for on-line store
c. Develop incentives for purchase
d. Social Media plan

7. Product Development
a. Assist with procurement of t-shirts for other departments; Adventure Ed, Summer Programs
b. Recommend possible new lines or items.

Education & Experience:
The ideal candidate will be a college graduate or one pursuing a degree in Business or retail management with sufficient retail management and leadership experience; preferably in retail merchandising, business management and/or store management. A plus will be the understanding of outdoor sports and gear and additional merchandising opportunities. The RC should be passionate about serving people and enthusiastic about the opportunity of posturing the retail department as an important revenue contributor to the operational budget of the camp.

This is a full time missionary staff position. A partial salary will be provided, along with raising financial support. NLR will also provide for the cost of health insurance coverage and offers a 403b retirement savings of a 10% match on your base salary.
