Horsemanship Program Manager

Camp Hebron, a 340-acre camp & retreat center, in Halifax, PA is seeking a full-time Horsemanship Program Manager. Camp Hebron serves approximately 1,500 in our summer programs and thousands year-round in retreat ministry. The horsemanship program operates as a CHA accredited facility. We are blessed to have an exceptional stall barn and indoor arena. Between the trails, indoor and outdoor arenas we offer flexibility in program design. Our strong summer camp, lessons and arena/trail programs are well respected. The Horsemanship Program Manager will work under the supervision of the Executive Director and cooperatively with the Horsemanship Education Specialist. This is a full-time position with benefits and salary.
Some Responsibilities include:
• Maintain a strong working relationship with veterinarian including routine health exams, vaccinations, consulting on diet/nutrition and responses to injuries or emergencies
• Participate in the lessons program as an instructor
• Develop and implement a farrier schedule and hoof care program
• Responsible for ordering feed, dietary supplements and Hay/Alfalfa
• Make sure all documentation on trail and arena rides is being finished and filed appropriately
• Maintaining the arena (fence and footing). Maintaining fencing including pastures and paddocks
• Manure management including removal and pest control (maintain pesticide applicator license)
• Coordinate the volunteers assisting at the barn
• Maintain healthy pastures including aeration, lime, mowing and other things as needed
• Work with the Executive Director to set the salaries of all part-time and full-time staff
• Coordinate the chores/feed schedule including paid staff and volunteers
• Inspect and provide routine maintenance and repair to all tack
• Make sure that trail riding string is trained and ready to perform arena rides and/or trail riding
• Maintain general maintenance of all facilities and equipment including the barns, yard area and spaces used for hosting guests or caring for horses
• Maintain the reserves of sawdust/wood chips
• Preparing for/hosting special events (Deck the Stalls, pony parties, clinics and etc...)
• Make sure seasonal switches happen for water sources, fans, general circulation and other items at the barn.
• Maintain the horse inventory, making sure the office manager has an updated list of horses
• Maintaining an active “Stables” inventory at a minimum doing full inventory twice a year.
