Program Director

To ensure quality programs, activities, and adventures for guests, participants and staff.

General Description:
Provide oversight, leadership, planning, and vision casting for experiential education/ministry at Camp Bighorn. This includes but is not limited to: Summer camps, Bighorn Wilderness Adventures, adventure activities, medical response, etc.

Minimum Qualifications
- Ability and desire to work in a camp setting
- Good character, integrity, ability and enthusiasm
- Ability to meet the public and work with various personalities
- Able to manage the Program Team members
- Strong administration skills
- Understanding of outdoor adventure and experiential education
- Ability to recruit others
- Strong teaching skills
- Ability to plan, originate, organize, and carry out daily and special program responsibilities
- Multi-task oriented, energetic, friendly, outgoing, organized, and self motivated

Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with outdoor sports/adventures (rock climbing, white-water kayaking, backpacking, mountain biking, etc)
- Ability to inspire and influence others towards a common goal
- Individual capable of leading in humility
- B.A. degree, preferably in Outdoor Education

Program Director Responsibilities
Activities & Events:
- Plan, conduct, and coordinate schedule of program activities for adventure camps, retreats, and conferences
- Maintain and supervise observance of all legal camp safety laws/rules at all times
- Identify and respond to all hazards and reported situations
- Evaluate program effectiveness and camper behavior – looking for areas of improvement
- Review program with Executive Director
- Create policies and procedures to maintain or exceed industry standard in programming adventures
- Train, supervise, and evaluate the training of all program staff and full-time staff
- Develop, communicate, and ensure program work schedules
- Assign work or special projects as needed
- Develop a healthy, holistic Program Team, spiritually, physically, and emotionally
- Work with other Branch Directors & staff to oversee the development of the Summer Staff
- Maintain, purchase (with approval), and inventory all program supplies and equipment
- Maintain and supervise all cleaning and storing of program equipment
- Coordinate the program functions for various areas of Camp Bighorn
College Programs:
- Supervise and evaluate the technical Adventure Education instruction Camp Bighorn offers
- Work with Venture Director to confirm dates and availability of both equipment and staffing for possible Venture activities
- Help provide staffing for Venture when needed

General Camp Bighorn Responsibilities
- As a member of the Bighorn Community you will be expected to:
- Engage in regular times of Scripture reading and prayer
- Regularly and actively attend staff connection meeting
- Invest in healthy relationships with staff, guests and participants
- Participate in staff trainings and staff retreats
- Assist other branches by helping with turnaround, dishes, kitchen help, retreat hosting, programming for retreats, cleaning, etc
- Assist in driving when possible
- Raise the amount decided on for your salary by seeking out churches, organizations, and individuals willing to partner with you in ministry
- Submit to the leadership of the Executive Director and the Branch Director team

Time:  Full-Time Year Round
Salary:  Must Raise Full Support
