Activities Intern
Operating Unit: CRISTA Camps
DEPT: Leadership Program
REPORTS TO: Intern Director & Program Leaders
SUPERVISES: Gap Year Participants
Duration: 12 Month Paid Internship

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Activities Intern will serve the Program Leaders in week to week projects and assist the Leader of the Day in the day to day tasks of CRISTA Camps. You will oversee/assist in High Ropes, Dirt Bikes, Paint Ball, Archery, Boating. The specific daily tasks will mainly include, but are not limited to, housekeeping; grounds crew;preparing stages and spaces for guest groups; opening, facilitating, and closing down activities;and assisting in special projects. When activity needs arise, the Activities Intern will be responsible for leading the team of assigned interns and gap year participants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Activities Specific Responsibilities
1. Attend weekly 1:1s and property team meetings with your Program Leader and
bi-monthly Intern and Program Leader meetings.
a. Come prepared with announcements for the whole team
b. Save individual announcements for “shake & bakes”
2. Plan the next week’s activities schedule for guests.
a. Collaborate with the Guest Group Coordinator , Program Lead , and Island
Lake Activities Intern to coordinate staff
b. Move around resources according to need in cooperation with the other
Activities Intern . .
3. Empower and equip your “team of the day” to safely run all activities with excellence.
a. Lead a brief discussion on the activities of the day.
b. Set clear expectations regarding timelines, professionalism, safety standards,
and work performance.
c. Provide training and coaching in activity instruction and safety standards.
d. Cultivate an awareness of group dynamics and use these observations to inform
your processes.
4. Keep activity areas functional, well stocked, and organized.
a. Communicate any maintenance needs to Facilities in a timely manner.
5. Debrief the activity session with the instructors. .
a. Evaluate what went well, what could improve, and how the team is progressing in
their activity instruction.
b. Receive personal feedback from team on your performance as a leader.
c. If changes are made, set action steps and communicate them to the entire team.
6. Coordinate in-service training sessions with the Program Leader and Intern Director when necessary.

General Intern Responsibilities
6. Assist the Guest Services Interns in preparing spaces for guest group and carrying out events.
a. Work with the Leader of the Day to prioritize group needs.
b. Organize the space according to function.
c. Respond to guests with professionalism, always trying to figure out what we can
say yes to.
7. Facilitate activities (archery, paintball, Marksmen X, horsemanship, dirt bikes, arts & crafts, rockwall, outdoor education classes, etc.) for guests according the Activities
Interns’ plans.
a. Prep the activity area before guests arrive.
b. Deliver clear activity instructions before allowing participants to begin
c. Coach guests in how to properly use equipment and protect them from engaging
in unsafe behaviors.
d. Manage the flow of the experience so all guests get an opportunity to participate.
e. Incorporate faith conversations into the activities & discussions.
f. Turn over the activity to be ready for future use and alert the facilities team and
the Leader of the Day to any maintenance requests or insufficient supplies.
8. Assist in completing special projects as directed by the Leader of the Day .
9. Work collaboratively with leaders, coworkers, staff, and guests.
10. Perform other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises Gap Year Participants and fellow Interns in activity related matters.

25. Christian Commitment: Adherence to the CRISTA Christian commitment statement, practice of biblical spiritual disciplines, and regular attendance to departmental/ministry devotions and prayer events. Pursue a lifestyle that seeks to honor the Lord Jesus Christ both in professional and personal life.
26. Education: Associates degree or equivalent experience

30. Other Considerations: detail oriented and efficient

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
(Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)
21. Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
22. Experience: Previous experience with horses, dirt bikes, youth, camp, and/or leading activities.
23. Licensure/Certification: First Aid/CPR, Red Cross Lifeguard, ACCT Level I ropes, WA State Food Workers card
24. Software & Equipment Used : See essential qualifications.
25. Other Considerations : detail oriented and efficient
