Paid Guest Services Internship - May 2021
Operating Unit: CRISTA Camps DEPT: Leadership Program REPORTS TO: Intern Director & Program Leaders SUPERVISES: Gap Year Participants
GENERAL SUMMARY: The Guest Services Intern will serve the Program Leaders in week to week projects and assist the Leader of the Day in the day to day tasks of CRISTA Camps. The specific daily tasks will mainly include, but are not limited to, housekeeping; grounds crew; preparing stages and spaces for guest groups; opening, facilitating, and closing down activities; and assisting in special projects. When guest group needs arise, the Guest Services Intern will be responsible for leading the team of assigned interns and gap year participants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (Responsibilities, Accountability, and Competencies; May not include all duties of this job)
Activities Specific Responsibilities Attend weekly 1:1s and property team meetings with your Program Leader and bi-monthly Intern and Program Leader meetings. Come prepared with announcements for the whole team Save individual announcements for “shake & bakes” Manage and maintain an inventory of all camp sound and lighting equipment, skit supplies, and game equipment. Empower and equip your “team of the day” to fulfill guest group requests such as A/V set up, skits, firesides, midnight buffet, rodeos, group games, and other special requests. Assign self, fellow Interns and Gap Year Students to fulfill projects based off of their availability and assignment frequency. Lead a briefing discussion on the events of the day. Set clear expectations regarding timelines, professionalism, safety standards, and work performance. Cultivate an awareness of group dynamics and use these observations to inform your processes. Train and coach team members in A/V set up, skits, firesides, midnight buffet, rodeos, group games, and any other guest group related programming. Debrief the day’s events. Evaluate what went well, what could improve, and how the team is progressing in their program execution.. Receive personal feedback from team on your performance as a leader. If changes are made, set action steps and communicate them to the entire team. Make and disperse table cards, surveys, and cabin cards by Thursday for the following week. Note the day and meal the printed surveys should be laid out for each group. Complete final invoice and collect group payment before departure. Finalize with Program Leader
General Intern Responsibilities Assist the Guest Services Interns in preparing spaces for guest group and carrying out events. Work with the Leader of the Day to prioritize group needs. Organize spaces according to function. Respond to guests with professionalism, always trying to figure out what we can say yes to. Facilitate activities (archery, paintball, Marksmen X, horsemanship, dirt bikes, arts & crafts, rockwall, outdoor education classes, etc.) for guests according the Activities Interns’ plans. Prep the activity area before guests arrive. Deliver clear activity instructions before allowing participants to begin Coach guests in how to properly use equipment and protect them from engaging in unsafe behaviors. Manage the flow of the experience so all guests get an opportunity to participate. Incorporate faith conversations into the activities & discussions. Turn over the activity to be ready for future use and alert the facilities team and the Leader of the Day to any maintenance requests or insufficient supplies. Assist in completing special projects as directed by the Leader of the Day. Work collaboratively with leaders, coworkers, staff, and guests. Perform other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises Gap Year Participants and fellow Interns in activity related matters.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience) Christian Commitment: Adherence to the CRISTA Christian commitment statement, practice of biblical spiritual disciplines, and regular attendance to departmental/ministry devotions and prayer events. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience) Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Experience: Previous experience with horses, dirt bikes, youth, camp, and/or leading activities. Licensure/Certification: First Aid/CPR, Red Cross Lifeguard, ACCT Level I ropes, WA State Food Workers card Software & Equipment Used: See essential qualifications.
