We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, love for interacting with people and a desire to live and work in a close community to serve in the much-needed role of Retreat Manager (includes schools, events, and weddings). The makeup of our community determines a large part of what it is like to live and work here. We have about 120 people who live on-site year round, comprised of: full-time staff and families and Professional Semester students. Glorieta is a beautiful place with many natural resources but calls for somewhat remote living.
Title: Retreat Manager

Direct Reports: Booking Coordinator
Job Purpose: To fulfill our mission by working on a team that coordinates and develops all aspects of summer and non-summer rental groups (schools, churches, businesses, weddings, events, conferences, etc.).
Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ and maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with the internal and external customers of Eagle Adventure Camps.
Staff development of personnel in the department through regular evaluation and feedback, as well as training and enrichment opportunities
Complete all administrative tasks for Retreat groups such as: pre-trip scheduling, post-group debriefing, follow up, surveys, billing and collecting payments, preparing and receiving contracts and deposit forms, schedules, etc
Create, adjust and be familiar with Salesforce to create and manage opportunities, accounts, and contacts as necessary
Make housing and resource reservations for all retreats and events
Communicate with group leaders through email, on campus tours, phone calls and in person
Gather information and determines needs of all groups for all hosts and works with them to create exceptional Retreat experiences
Communicate internal needs to necessary staff, including but not limited to: kitchen, housekeeping, maintenance, retail, activities, grounds, full time staff who are working
Work with groups of all sizes throughout the Retreat and Conferences season
Manage all aspects of quality control during the Retreat season (housekeeping, retail, activities, etc.) to ensure guest retention and maximize guest experience
Create logistics sheets with all required details of groups needs for internal use during Retreat season
Form authentic relationships with group sponsors and leaders, teachers, future guests, and staff (full-time, summer staff, and interns)
Facilitate all aspects of tours for future guests
Plan and facilitate adventure events, pursue sponsorship, marketing, community involvement
Put together wedding venue plan and develop a marketing strategy to book weddings
Plan and facilitate Community Day including advertising and promoting the event
Develop programmed events/retreats such as: Ministers Escape, Couples Retreat, Father Son or Mother Daughter Adventure Weekend, Summer Staff retention events, and help other program directors host events to promote their programs
Develop systems and processes that aid all aspects of retreats
Manage budget goals
Run activities, facilitate group development sessions, prepare meals or clean meals as needed and as trained when others are not scheduled or your help is needed
Host groups and events on a rotation with other Program Staff
Purchase necessary equipment and material for the success of Retreats
Program gate codes for Retreat guests
Manage all seasonal staff and full time staff during their time serving retreats
Train seasonal staff in all Retreat program needs
Assist in All Camp cleaning
Other Duties of ALL Glorieta Staff: We operate year-round. We have guests on the premises almost every day of the year. Serving guests is our number one priority, and therefore ALL staff must participate in guest service in some capacity. Tasks may include cooking, cleaning, facilitating group activities, running retail locations, general maintenance of camp property, recruiting trips, sales trips, and work projects as needed. There are often groups here on weekends, and all staff members will be required to work certain weekends as needed.
Character, Education, Abilities, Skills, Experience:
The “ideal” candidate will have:
A vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and commitment to scripture and will continue to pursue that further
Strong sense of hospitality and customer service
High degree comfortability with phone calls, emails, guest interaction, and public speaking
College Degree or higher is preferred
Ability to use technological systems at Camp proficiently
Proficiency in spreadsheets
Experience with Salesforce
Ability to work long hours
Ability to confront, encourage, and inspire staff towards excellence in their work
Easily communicate with guests in a professional and friendly manner verbally and in writing
Strong administrative and organizational skills with high attention to detail
Experience with event planning or the equivalent is highly desired
High level of managing details for up to 15 events at one time
Ability to manage, delegate and respond to situations in a Christ-centered way
Willingness to learn new skills
Ability to be flexible with time-off and new policies
Ability to problem solve and be flexible and adaptable with the changing and developing needs of guests and handle the resulting actions with speed and kindness
Work Context: This job will be performed primarily on location at the Glorieta, New Mexico location
Travel: Occasional travel to help with recruiting, marketing, or trainings.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift 60 lbs, sit in office, hike, stand all day, be willing to get your hands dirty.
Work Environment: Most work will be done in the office, at a desk. Occasionally may be asked to help with all-camp projects, including working in inclement weather conditions throughout the year.
Training: Employees will be given opportunity for improvement through appropriate training.
Compensation: Salary, onsite housing, medical insurance, 401(k) retirement package after one year, and paid vacation time. See HR and/or potential supervisor for details.
