Comptroller

Overview
The Comptroller will be a key member of the finance team working closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors. This position requires great responsibility for fund accounting to assist the organization in achieving key goals.
Key Responsibilities
• General accounting and financial functions and financial statement preparations
• Prepare reports to summarize and forecast organization financial activity and financial position in areas of fundraising, expenses, based on past, present and expected operations
• Oversee general ledger activity
• Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and year-end close process
• Work with Executive Director on preparation of the company budget
• Prepare for audits of organization accounts and handle all aspects of the audit including required interactions with audit firm
• Continually improving reporting on key financial metrics and leading financial indicators utilizing available tools & software applications
• Oversee part-time bookkeeper
• Direct tax reporting, filling and compliance
• Direct payroll administration
• Other tasks as required
Qualifications/Requirements
• Senior Accounting or bookkeeping experience
• Non-profit experience preferred; familiarity with 990 forms
• Solid understanding of accounting processes and procedures
• Proven ability to meet daily and monthly deliverables
• Proficiency with accounting software systems
• Proficiency with Sage 300, Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced working knowledge of Excel
• Ability to work efficiently independently as well as part of a team
• Highly organized and detail oriented with effective prioritization abilities
• Sound judgment and strong reasoning skills
• Strong analytic and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Faith orientation and foundation-consistent with BRR values and statement of faith
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, or Accounting preferred
• 7-10 years booking and accounting experience
