Camp Burton is owned by the Washington Baptist Convention, supported by American Baptist Churches and "run" by the Executive Director and Camp Board.
Camp Burton as been a gathering place for individuals to worship, share, play and experience spiritual transformation for 110 years.
Camp offers "shared" housing, so a single person or (very flexible) couple is requested. We are in the process of a new site plan, but shared housing is the only option until we move forward on development.
We are looking to fill this position with someone who:
loves God and people
has previously worked at a camp or with youth
is flexible and ready to serve
At this point we do not facilitate programming during the year and summer is limited. We are looking for a person who is excited about developing and growing our faith-based camp programs, as well as "off season" options.
Camp Burton's Faith Adventure Camps are approximately 10-20 kids per camp
Family Camp - 60 participants
New Horizon's (Adult Special Needs) - 45 campers
"Guest" Camps: 45-200 campers and staff
During the summer you will:
-Work closely with the Executive Director and Conference Coordinator
-Plan and lead Camp Burton Faith Adventure Camps (ages 7-17), Family Camp, High School Adventure Camp and CB New Horizon's Camp
-Lead and direct youth-camp staff in programmed activities and events
-Create staff schedules depending on activities and camp session - Boat Drivers, Lifeguards, Craft Director, Archery Supervisor, Program Assistants, and Cabin Leaders
-Create, lead or assist with devotional and/or chapel times for youth.
-Be intentional in building relationships with campers and staff.
-Lead staff meetings as needed. Assist in staff training.
-Oversee under age staff members, living on-site, during specific sessions.
Be the point person for "GUEST" camps, assisting with the details of their programming and site needs.
*Guest camps will include a variety of groups, some non-religious, including
adults with special needs and medical-camp organizations.
Create staff schedules to support Guest Camp programming and site needs.
Lead activities as needed.
During the months of Sept - May, you will:
-Travel and recruit for camp staff
-Develop camp and program curriculum
-Work on promotional / advertising material & communication (online and print form)
-Create and process summer registrations
-Complete reports and assist with ACA accreditation
-Assist in areas around camp as needed: grounds, housekeeping, kitchen, hosting, office, etc..
*Camp Burton is called to Biblical hospitality and know all people who utilize our site- campers, staff, and guests, will be ministered to through our service.
