In this position you will be responsible for upholding the vision and mission of Camp Canaan by managing the following areas of the
organization. As Program Director your number one priority is safety.
Major Areas of Accountability:
? Program Management: Manage all adventure programs that are booked by the sales team and customize as needed to
attend to the needs of the group.
? Manage and Schedule the needed adventure staff for each group through When I Work and communicate
necessary information during the program meeting.
? Be at all Adventure Day Events to manage event and staff.
? Program Development: Develop new adventure programs and new options for retreat and day event groups.
? Program Facilitation/ Training: Hire and train all of the guides for each program area of Canaan and ensure that each
guides skills is compliant to ACCT and ACA standards.
? Regular training will include but not limited to: First-aid CPR/ AED, Lifeguard certification, Swift water
kayaking, belay and high ropes certification, teambuilding and low ropes certification.
? CZCT: Manage the CZCT calendar through FareHarbor and schedule all guides for those tours
? Course Maintenance and Equipment: Responsible for regular course maintenance, line logs, equipment logs and
assisting in the planning and building of new elements, course adjustments and repairs.
? Ensure that all gear is in compliance with ACCT and ACA standards
? Adventure Programs: Work with the Summer Director to develop a summer adventure schedule for all program areas.
? Ensure that sufficient number of adventure are guides hired to maintain excellence in summer camp programs
? Work with Operations Director and Summer Director to develop a transportation schedule.
? Teen Leadership Camp: Continue to develop an excellent teen program and hire the necessary staff.
? Hire and train counselors: Make sure that they are familiar with each trip and that they are wilderness first aid
trained. Ensure that they have emergency action plans in place for each trip.
? Schedule all adventure field trips ahead of time and ensure necessary shuttles are in place. (rafting caving etc.)
? Waterfront: Work directly with the operations director and head life guard to ensure the pool and river are managed in
safe manner and as well as in compliance with the highest DHEC and American Red Cross safety standards.
? Schedule lifeguards using When I Work. Make sure that they are well-trained to properly manage their
assigned swimming areas.

? Bachelor’s degree required in Outdoor Recreation or related field
? Sound, Biblical Christian faith
? Minimum of 5 years’ experience in outdoor adventure facilitation
? Certified trainer in First-aid/ CPR, Lifeguard certification and Experience in Emergency response training
? Certified rock climbing/ belay instructor
? Certified kayak instructor
? Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, E-mail, Internet)
