Camp Counselor / Cabin Leader
Camp Counselor Position - Open to spiritually mature College-Age Students
All counselors are given a leadership role over everyone within their cabin, which will be 9 campers, and 2 teenage volunteers. Counselors are responsible for mobilizing campers throughout the day, escorting them from one activity to another. Counselors have the unique responsibility of investing in the campers’ lives throughout each week. We encourage counselors to spend time with each camper within their cabin, in hopes of building a relationship that will allow them to share Christ.
In order to apply for the Counselor position, you must be 18-25 years old and must be available to serve May 26 – July 13, 2019. Finally, you must love working with children in a camping environment. Counselors must be physically fit and able to participate in long days with lots of physical outdoor activities in the summer heat. Counselors will also be required to swim with their campers. (If you consider yourself a non-swimmer please do not apply for the Counselor position.)
Summer Counselors will serve and live onsite. Counselors will be paid $200 a week in addition to having housing and most meals provided (weekend meals are on your own). Counselors will have free time each Friday afternoon (after campers leave) through Sunday morning. Sunday Mornings you will be expected to attend a local church. A new group of campers arrives each Sunday afternoon.
Our Summer Counselors are considered Summer Missionaries and therefore are allowed to raise (if desired) summer missionary support from your friends, family, and church (up to an additional $2,000) in addition to what we pay. We don't want you to have to choose not to serve at camp this summer due to financial obligations. If you are interested or have any questions, please feel free to contact Jeff Nelson, Executive Director.
