The makeup of our community determines a large part of what it is like to live and work here. We have about 120 people who live on-site year round, comprised of: full-time staff, families, interns, and gap-year students. Glorieta is a beautiful place with many natural resources but calls for somewhat remote living.


Title: Activities Manager

Job Purpose: This is a full-time, salaried position with the responsibility of coordinating the operations of all challenge course activities and aid in these activities contributing to the overall camp community and ministry of Glorieta Camps. The Individual is responsible for the day-to-day running of the challenge course, including: training, inspecting, maintaining, and when necessary, running these activities. The Activities Manager will train and manage summer staff during the summer. They will also be responsible for training retreats interns and full-time staff on running, inspecting, and training others who may run these activities. They will hold all trainers and operators to an acceptable operating standard that is consistent with the written Policies and Procedures at all times. During the slow season, the Activities Manager continue to maintain activities, train staff, and construct new activities.

Overall Responsibility
Manage all aspects of safety, including, but not limited to, developing, maintaining, and implementing Policies and Procedures for each challenge course, shooting, and wheeled activity
Developing and coordinating inspections, documentation, and action points from said inspections
Uphold maintenance and inspection protocols in compliance with industry standards including proper documentation
Continually improve assets through the identification of issues and pursuit of long-term solutions
Regularly monitor asset operators to ensure compliance with Policies and Procedures
Assist in the training of operators as necessary
Communicate with program directors to ensure assets are available, in operational condition, and properly set up
Set up assets for use by programs when required
Purchase and maintain assets to include, but not limited to, bikes, scooters, drift trikes, challenge course equipment, firearms, and other shooting equipment
Other Duties of ALL Glorieta Staff: We operate year-round. We have guests on the premises almost every day of the year. Serving guests is our number one priority, and therefore ALL staff must participate in guest service in some capacity. Tasks may include cooking, cleaning, facilitating group activities, running retail locations, general maintenance of camp property, and work projects as needed. There are often groups here on weekends, and all staff members will be required to work certain weekends as needed.

Character, Education, Abilities, Skills, Experience:

The “ideal” candidate will have:
A personal relationship with Christ that permeates all aspects of their life
Ability to manage, encourage, and get along with a variety of people simultaneously and communicate well with their supervisor, team members, staff, and guests
Willingness to perform routine tasks regularly and on time, with deadlines weekly and monthly
Must have proficiency in the Microsoft Word and Excel, their Google counterparts, Google Drive, and Gmail and the ability to learn new systems with an ability to write formal documentation clearly and accurately
Strong problem solving skills and a desire to learn new things quickly
A strong sense of self-motivation accompanied by a good work ethic and the ability to work alone for extended periods of time
A natural ability or strong desire for organization, accuracy, and attention to detail
Must have experience working with hand tools
Ability to understand industry standards and apply as necessary to unique assets in order to write clear and concise inspection documents
Must be able to perform tasks out of the ordinary on short notice with a degree of flexibility
ACCT certifications preferred

Work Context: This job will be performed primarily on location at the Glorieta, New Mexico location.

Travel: Minimal travel will be required for training.

Physical Demands: Ability to lift 60+ lbs, sit in office, stand all day, bend, squat, be willing to get your hands dirty, hike.

Work Environment: Most work will be done outdoors.

Training: All program support employees will be given opportunity for improvement through appropriate training.

Compensation: Full-time, salaried with housing and benefits.

Start Date: January 2, 2018
