The makeup of our community determines a large part of what it is like to live and work here. We have about 120 people who live on-site year round, comprised of: full-time staff and families and gap-year students. Glorieta is a beautiful place with many natural resources but calls for somewhat remote living.


Title: Accounting Staff

Department: Shared Services

Reports to: Accounting Manager

Job Purpose: To fulfill our mission as part of a team to provide accurate and timely information so that decisions can be made to continue the mission in a sustainable way for our three camps: Glorieta Camps in New Mexico, Black Diamond Camps in Washington, and Camp Eagle in Texas. This position will take place in New Mexico at the Shared Services offices for all three camps. Shared Services is a central office that provides administrative support to all three camps in the areas of general administration, board relations, executive functions, accounting, digital and print media, HR/Risk Management, and IT.

Overall Responsibility
-Work on all aspects of G/L, A/R, and A/P
-Accounts Payable will encompass the processing of all accounts payable transactions in a timely and accurate manner ensuring proper classification. This includes reviewing vendor statements, invoices, and resolving discrepancies.
-Accounts Receivable will encompass the accurate posting and classification of received payments, entries to classify receipts as deferred revenue, revenue or payments towards AR, preparing deposits, and making deposits.
-Reconcile monthly credit card statements
-General Ledger maintenance
-Process employee payroll, reimbursements and expense statements
-Enter and reconcile transactions
-Bank statement reconciliations
-Monthly financial reports for management
-Assisting with audit preparation and audit field work in conjunction with external auditors
-Perform other general office duties as needed
-Assist in all areas of operation as requested by management

Other Duties of ALL Staff: We operate year-round. We have guests on the premises almost every day of the year. Serving guests is our number one priority, and therefore ALL staff must participate in guest service in some capacity. Tasks may include cooking, cleaning, facilitating group activities, running retail locations, general maintenance of camp property, and work projects as needed. There are often groups here on weekends, and all staff members will be required to work certain weekends as needed.

Character, Education, Abilities, Skills, Experience:

The “ideal” candidate will have:
-A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or 4 years’ experience in the duties listed
-Must be knowledgeable in accounting principles such as debits and credits, A/R, A/P, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
-Experience with payroll
-Ability to communicate well with team members, staff, and guests
-A strong desire to learn new things quickly
-A strong sense of self-motivation
-A personal relationship with Christ that permeates all aspects of his/her life
-Good work ethic is a must
-Willingness to perform routine tasks regularly and on time, with deadlines weekly and monthly for most tasks
-Strong Microsoft Excel skills
-Have a natural ability or strong desire for organization
-Willingness to perform many tasks alone
-Experience with Salesforce and Intacct is a plus.

Work Context: This job will be performed primarily on location at the Glorieta, New Mexico location

Travel: Possible infrequent travel to workshop trainings and other sites.

Physical Demands: Ability to sit and focus on a singular task for several hours at a time. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

Work Environment: Will consistently work indoors, though may be requested to assist in additional outdoor tasks.

Training: Accounting employees will be given opportunity for improvement through appropriate training.

Compensation: Salary, on¬site housing, medical insurance, 401(k) retirement package after one year, and paid vacation time. See HR and/or potential supervisor for details.
