ED, School Aged Child Care

Who We Are
For the past 25 years, School aged Child Care (SACC) at Peninsula Covenant Church has been home to thousands of campers and staff from all over the world. We provide our campers with an environment of physical, mental, emotional & spiritual growth and safety as well as an opportunity to feel significant as unique individuals made in the image of God. Our vision is simple: Equipping and encouraging campers to know and grow their relationship with Jesus.

The Executive Director is expected to be the primary leader for PCC’s School Aged Child Care and Swim & Gym summer camp. The ED will develop and lead the School Age Child Care and Swim & Gym ministry teams, partner with parents to successfully develop and nurture children in after school care and introduce them to the faith community of PCC. It is also important to provide visionary leadership to drive Vision 2025 by multiplying SACC locations in Redwood City while retaining excellence in program and faith-based community support.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
? In close collaboration with the Pastor of Organizational Development, Lead Team, and Operations Director, the ED will oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services that support the mission of the organization.
? Ensure that all camp programs are run safely, are current and enriching for all campers, staff, and families; with cohesion to all of the SACC and Summer Swim & Gym’s offerings.
? Provide a safe, nurturing and orderly atmosphere for school-age children; supervising staff and children; overseeing student discipline; communicating with parents; enrolling students; hiring, training and evaluating staff; billing parents; making deposits and purchases; and developing and monitoring the program budget.
? Develop a staffing structure that supports the efficient delivery of programs and services, including hiring, managing, and mentoring the administrative and counselor teams; giving specific attention to developing and mentoring the staff.
? Implement and continually revise employment policies and process.
? Design and deliver a new process to develop and manage the staff performance progress and the review process.
? Provide coaching and direction to staff in regards to the management of child behaviors, communicating behavior with families, and support staff to develop and implement behavior plans as needed.
? Provide ongoing leadership, professional guidance and development to staff.
? Design and direct the operations of all marketing activities, including new media outlets and technological and database platforms.
? Minimum of 5% and up to 15% of time to be allocated to PCC’s Vision 2025.
? Actively cultivate a culture of collaboration, creativity, and kindness in the SACC team and work effectively across all PCC teams (i.e. Preschool, Children’s Ministry, the Center, and Operations & Facilities).
? Perform other duties as needed and assigned.

Experience & Skills Required
? Must have a passion for Christ and for His word—must demonstrate a daily pursuit of a Christ-centered life.
? Demonstrable 3 years of successful experience as a children’s daycare director or camp director, pastor, leader and/or teacher.
? At least 3+ years supervisory and/or management experience (adults and/or volunteers).
? Has demonstrated the ability to attract, assess, select, and provide ongoing development in ministry by inviting, training, affirming, giving feedback, evaluating, recognizing and helping others reflect.
? Proven ability to discern individual strengths, provide direct feedback when necessary, encourage skill development in a supportive way, and compile a team that complements one another.
? Experience in developing and implementing a strategic plan and effectively executing at a tactical level.
? Has demonstrated his/her ability to effectively communicate to both adults, staff and teaching children.
? Effectively utilizes interaction strategies that benefit the organization (both SACC and PCC) while gaining acceptance from relevant internal and external constituencies.
? Ability to articulate visionary leadership inspiring the expansion of SACC programs into Redwood City.
? Brings a clear and compelling sense of the future as well as an understanding of the actions needed to get there.
? Has a mindset of innovation and excellence, thinks creatively, is able to see information in new ways, and easily adapts to change initiatives.
? Embraces ability to affect positive change, sees the big picture, and thinks strategically.
? Excels at delegating and empowering others toward meeting goals.
? Effective collaboration and partnership with other ministries and the congregation, demonstrated ability to work within teams and in a matrix structure.
? Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a changing environment, is flexible, adaptable and not easily deterred from achieving key objectives.
? Must have a passion for children and families, striving to invite the parents into the faith community.
? Displays an ongoing commitment to learning, self-development and continuous improvement.

Training Required and Additional Resources
? Completion of Ministry Safe coursework
? Completion of Dept. of Social Services Orientation Class for Child Center Directors
? Completion of Adult and Child CPR and basic First Aid
? Fingerprinting with the DSS and with Livescan
? Ongoing PCC training as needs are identified
? Resources are available through the SACC yearly budget
? Required to drive personal vehicle and maintain required minimum insurance
? Required to have and use a cell phone for PCC business

Education &/or Licensing Requirements
? B.A. in a compatible field (education, psychology, recreation, etc.),
? Director-qualified per California Department of Social Services; Child Care Licensing guidelines before employment begins with PCC.

Physical & Emotional Demands
? Visual, auditory and verbal ability to communicate effectively
? High levels of alertness, concentration and initiative
? Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear
? Regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; in addition to periods of active routines outside
? Ability to facilitate conflict resolution and problem solve for youth and staff
? Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times
