Recreation Crew Member

Recreation Crew is a summer staff position responsible for ensuring the safe guest access to our many recreation options. They are responsible for equipment and facilities maintenance, preparing and performing daily pool and waterfront lifeguard and other activities and providing basic first aid to injured guests.

Responsibilities and Duties:

•Work alongside fellow Recreation staff to maintain, prepare and provide recreation options to our guests
•Educating guests on the safe use of equipment and ensuring they meet basic requirements (perform swim tests, sailing tip tests, etc)
•Lifeguard and oversee access to our pool and beach waterfront and lead (guide) special trips (e.g. sailing, voyageur canoe, mountain biking, etc)
•Work with creation care to instill a sense of appreciation for God’s creation while enjoying the beauty of our natural setting
•Perform daily pool maintenance tasks, including chemical testing and handling/adding pool chemicals in the appropriate amounts and monitoring operation systems
•Participate in daily Recreation morning devotions
•All other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills Required:

•Sustained, active and growing personal relationship with God
•Affirm InterVarsity’s Statement of Agreement
•Works well with others
•18 Years or older with High School Degree/GED
•Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
•Ability to lift 50 lbs or more
•Flexibility to work irregular or extended hours as required (e.g. stargazing trips, sunrise kayak tours, etc.)


•Ability to take ownership of tasks and responsibilities
•Strong worth ethic and sense of personal responsibility/accountability
•Knowledge of sailing, boating, kayaking or mountain biking
•Knowledge of repair and maintenance methods for various recreation equipment is a plus
•First Aid/AED Certification, Red Cross (or similar) Lifeguard Certification with a waterfront skills module (or ability to obtain)- Camp will cover the certification cost for the right workers
