Grounds Intern

Job Title: Grounds Intern to start in January 2018
Reports to: Grounds Supervisor

Position Purpose:
Execute the grounds plan as part of the grounds keeping team.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Executing grounds plan.
? Keep grass areas mowed, free from weeds, healthy and attractive to guests.
? Keep roads and trails cut back and walkways free from tripping hazards.
? Keep rock beds, flower beds and mechanical areas free of weeds.
? Run irrigation and apply fertilizer.
? Periodic jobs such as mulching, trimming and planting.

2. Responsible to proactively identify and correct safety issues on the property.
? Identify and correct safety issues. Record issues in maintenance tracking system.
? Keep pests and varmints under control using baits, chemicals and or traps.
5. Equipment and Supplies
? Perform preventive maintenance on lawn equipment.
? Keep stock of all required safety equipment.
? A high school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
? Willingness to learn and grow in the subject knowledge.
? Able to become proficient in the safe and proper use of all grounds equipment.
Physical Aspects of the Position:
? Ability to understand and implement safety regulations and procedures.
? Ability, both visual and auditory, to identify and respond to safety and environmental hazards and inform campers, staff, and guests.
? Physical strength to lift supplies (40 pounds)
? Physical mobility and endurance to perform tasks while standing/walking for long periods of time.
? Ability to safely and properly use power tools, equipment, vehicles and mobile equipment.
? This is a paid position with the expectation for the candidate to remain for a year.
? Housing, sick days and time off is provided.
? Food is provided whenever the camp kitchen is in operation.
