Lead Cook

Mile High Pines is a 330 person guest group camp and retreat center, located in the San Bernardino National Forest (90 miles outside of Los Angeles). We have been in operation since 1945 and strive to develop long-lasting relationships with guests. Out staff is enthusiastically about creating an atmosphere where guests can retreat, reflect, repent, and renew.

Responsibilities: A Lead Cook reports directly to the Food Service Manager.
Oversee the preparation of balanced camp meals, snacks, and pack-out food. Cooks and directs kitchen staff in the preparation of a variety of meals. Ensure safe and efficient preparation and serving of camp meals to the Mile High Pines method and standard. Provide accurate calculations in the preparation of a meal, coordinate serving food and seconds, and attends to camper’s special dietary needs. Assure a passing grade on Health Inspections. Assist in kitchen with food prep, serving, and clean-up as needed. Organize the feeding of all personnel in such a manner as to expedite the operation and to avoid delays. Oversees the maintenance and sanitation of the dining room and kitchen. Provides recommendations and concerns to the Food Service Manager about performance of the kitchen team. In the off season: assists with the operation of camp with housekeeping, light maintenance, and other duties.

Desired Qualifications: Looking for a mature, Christian, ministry-minded individual who has at least 2 years of cooking experience in a lead position or equivalent. Must have good character, integrity, be adaptable, a team-player and have excellent social skills and service oriented heart.
