Technical Support (day of conference)
Adobe Acrobat Support will be handling all support calls during the Online Training Conference. For issues during the Online Training Conference Sept. 23, please call: (888) 523-8445.

Best Practices for High Quality Video
Please remember that high video quality requires a high bandwidth connection. If you are on dial-up, even satellite (in some cases), video may be choppy at best. If you have a DSL, T1 (or better), cable or other high bandwidth connection, the video should be fine. If you find that it is not clean, you may try one of the following:

a) Make sure you are HARD WIRED to a router--not connecting wirelessly, if possible. Wireless is great, but it provides less bandwidth (generally speaking) than a hard wire to your router.

b) Make sure no other computers on your network are fighting for the same data (logged in as you are) as this can create bandwidth issues if the same data is trying to flow to two or more machines on the same network.

c) Make sure your staff isn't in the computer room playing computer games or downloading iTunes movies or songs!

d) Clear your cache or temporary Internet files from your PC. (Please refer to: http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser's-Cache for instructions on doing this.)

e) Reboot your computer prior to joining the Online Training Conference as this can help you start with a clean slate, so to speak.

f) Be patient! It sometimes takes a minute for everything online to get in sync.

g) Visit the Web Links section in the meeting, or the Web status page (this will be sent to you) for a direct link to the video files. Please ONLY do this if absolutely necessary.

More information about connection types and speeds can be found at: http://www.high-speed-internet-access-guide.com/dsl-vs-cable.html. You can also test your connection speed at http://admin.adobe.acrobat.com/common/help/en/support/meeting_test.htm. Please note that if your speed shows up as "Modem" then there will likley be issues with this video intensive event.

How to Connect on Sept. 23, 2010
The conference room will be open by 8 a.m. (MT) on Thursday, Sept. 23. If you have registered, be watching your e-mail for the conference room link. During that time we will have a slide or two up, and we will likely roll a video or two that you are welcome to check out to ensure all is well with your connection. Please be sure you are logged in five to 10 minutes early (at about 8:40/8:45 a.m. MT).

The program will begin at 8:50 a.m. (MT) at which time you should see the welcome screen removed, and CCCA President Gregg Hunter will welcome you. The BEST OPTION for watching the Online Training Conference will be to watch, and listen, to everything in "real time" via your Web browser. Watching any other way could interfere with timing on your end. However, we understand that bandwidth can be a problem, so we've provided backup methods to assist you.

IF AUDIO QUALITY IS POOR
Please dial our conference number that will be provided via e-mail. No login will be required—and you'll be able to listen in, although the voice will be slightly out of sync with the faces on the screen during the expert commentary. Your phone will be muted, so you don't have to worry about any noise on your end.

NOTE: If you go this route, please understand the following:

1) If broadcasting to a large group, you will need to have a way for your telephone to be heard over loudspeakers, perhaps a microphone by the headset or a more complicated method if you have technical people on hand to help.

2) You will need to turn down your computer speakers during the expert commentary sessions or you will have two audio sources (phone and PC), and they will NOT be in sync.

3) You will still need to turn up your computer speakers during the top of the hour video presentations as during those times we do not have a good way to broadcast this over the phone lines.

IF VIDEO QUALITY IS POOR
On the bottom left hand of your screen, we will have a series of links to each video now hosted on VIMEO. By clicking on those links, a new browser window will appear where you can view the video in a separate window.

NOTE: IF you go this route, please understand the following:

1) Timing WILL be off slightly. The video will end AFTER the video ends for those watching everything through the original browser window. This means you may miss some of the expert commentary. Just be aware of that fact.

2) You will still listen to the video portions through your computer, so be sure the computer speaker volume is up.

IF AUDIO & VIDEO QUALITY IS POOR
Just combine the above two items: Dial in, and click on the links to the videos hosted on VIMEO.

HINT: If you find that the first broadcast video simply isn't agreeing with your computer, you can begin downloading and caching the next video during the blackout time. To do that, click on the upcoming video link (based on the schedule) in the Web Links section as soon as the expert commentary is finished. Start the video by clicking the PLAY button, then pause the video immediately. The rest of the video SHOULD load on your PC during the blackout period, and you will be ready to play at the top of the next hour. This should work in most cases. And again, we encourage you to watch the live feed so that we can keep the timing current, but we also wanted to provide this as a back-up plan for you.

Status Updates
In the event of severe technical issues, a Web site status page (complete with links to the videos) will be available.

Any known, widespread issues will be reported on this page, including any contingency plans.
