Leadership in Camp Ministry (LCM) Paid Internship

Timber-lee offers a unique nine-month paid Leadership in Camp Ministry (LCM) internship from mid August through late May that provides hands-on training designed specifically to equip participants with ministry, communication, and leadership skills that are invaluable to a career in Christian camping, outdoor recreation, the education field, and many others. We select individuals who are passionate about helping others grow in a closer relationship with Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit working in them. Its our desire that our interns will leave with lasting memories and close friendships, have numerous valuable learning experiences, and a deeper spiritual life.

With the use of interactive educational instruction and training, field experience working with school groups and youth retreats, and a Christ-centered community, Timber-lee will provide the right environment needed to take ministry minded individuals to the next level of both personal and professional growth.

Timber-lee is located on over 600 acres in scenic Southeastern Wisconsin, and is home to one of the largest residential Outdoor Education (OE) and youth retreat programs in the Midwest. The LCM interns have the advantage of working closely with many different aspects of these programs, thus gaining knowledge by hands-on experience, as well as learning directly from numerous seasoned professional staff.

Apart from having a role in teaching, planning, and organizing classes, activities, and events for OE and youth retreats, our interns participate in conferences, camp tours, guest lectures, and various other learning opportunities throughout the year; all within the realm of a Christ-centered community.

The OE program runs throughout the entirety of the program year, but peaks during the fall and spring. Interns are able to select a specific departmental track of concentration according to skills and interest. Those departments are Timber Challenge, the Science Education Center, and the Saddle Horn Ranch. Interns help in the planning, preparing, and implementing of over a dozen of Timber-lees youth group retreats including our winterXtreme winter retreats.

Interns are provided on-site housing, most meals, and a weekly stipend. There is a $1600 program cost* per LCM that covers certifications in lifeguarding, First Aid/CPR, wilderness First Aid, NASP Archery; program-specific winter apparel (jacket and pants); all travel related costs to local and regional camp tours; registration and lodging at the CCCA annual sectional conference; all costs related to other various LCM trips and events planned throughout the year; optional local YMCA membership.
*Please Note: The $1600 can be divided into separate payments with at least $400 required at the start of the program. A separate $100 housing security deposit is required and is fully refundable with a satisfactory housing inspection after successful completion of the program.

Specific Requirements:
* Have a sincere love for God and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
* Be able to fully participate in the entire duration of the program, August through May.
* College graduate preferred.
* Between the ages of 21 and 25.
