SKYVIEW RANCH APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM

Start date: August 4, 2018
End date: August 9, 2019

OVERVIEW
The Apprenticeship Program at Skyview Ranch exists to facilitate experiential learning in a camp ministry environment while providing both Biblical discipleship and leadership training for LIFE IMPACT. This 12-month program provides an experience that is both structured and intentional for each individual and provides an environment for learning designed to equip for spiritual development and growth, ministry awareness, and specifically Christian camp ministry readiness. The primary elements for the Apprenticeship Program at Skyview Ranch are:
• Education and training:
o Organizational Leadership Courses – SVR partners with Clark's Summit University and Pilgrimage Educational Resources to provide courses for both undergraduates and graduates.
o Department Specific Training – These departments include Programming, Guest Services, Property/Equine, Kitchen/Food Service, Media, and Maintenance. Each apprentice will learn by working alongside the director of their department, assisting in day to day tasks as well as Skyview events.
o Holistic view of full-time camping ministry- Apprentices will see and experience the inner workings of year-round camp ministry including guest group season, Skyview retreats, and summer camp.
• Off-site experiences
o Local Church Opportunities- Apprentices will travel to various churches to speak at and run activities for youth groups, AWANA, and other events in order to serve the local church, get involved in our community, and promote the ministry of Skyview.
o Recruiting- Apprentices will travel to various Christian Universities to promote Skyview Ranch and recruit potential counselors and program staff for summer camp.
o Conferences- Apprentices will have the opportunity to travel alongside full-time staff to Christian camping conferences such as the NARBC conference and the CCCA conference. At these events, they will have the opportunity to attend educational sessions, network with other camps and ministries and build relationships.
o Mission Trip- Apprentices will experience an off-site learning experience, such as a mission. This is structured to provide a wider view of ministry and leadership training outside of our 175 acres and churches we serve.
• Work and Responsibilities
o Hosting guest groups- Throughout the fall, winter, and spring seasons, apprentices will have the opportunity to be the host for various guest groups weekly. They will meet their needs by various services such as facilitate high ropes, paintball, team building initiatives and group games.
o Mission Sub-zero- Apprentices are given the responsibility for all of the programming, planning, and overseeing of a large Skyview hosted weekend event for 4th-6th graders in the winter.
o Weekly Duties and Chores- Apprentices are responsible for a variety of the upkeep of our 175 acre property. This may include housekeeping/cleaning, meal preparation and service, grounds work and landscaping as well as office mailings and paperwork.
