Waypoint Leadership Program

Purpose:
The Waypoint Leadership Program is designed to support all the ministries of Camp Cho-Yeh giving our participants the opportunity to serve in multiple aspects of full-time camp ministry. Our desire is for them to develop personal leadership skills and experience living and working in an authentic Christian community.

Participants will further the mission of Camp Cho-Yeh by working with Summer Camp, Road Crew, Guest Retreats, and special projects while gaining knowledge, skills, and experience in full-time ministry.

General Responsibilities:
Participants will learn from all departments of camp assisting as needed. There is not a set rotation through each department but interns will serve all of over camp in a variety of roles.

Assist the Summer Camp team by:
-Recruiting staff
-Hiring staff
-Organizing and preparing for our Winter in the Wild, and Campy Christmas.
-Brainstorming new program ideas

Assist the Guest Retreats team by:
-Preparing for guest group arrivals
-Hosting guest groups on camp
-Running activities for guest groups
-Properly shutting down camp after guest groups depart

Assist the Road Crew Team by:
-Marketing Cho-Yeh in Houston
-Setting up inflatables and portable rock wall for events

Assist the kitchen, housekeeping, and maintenance teams as needed by:
-Hosting Meals
-Maintaining camp facilities
-Painting
-Caring for grounds

Qualifications
-Typically applicants are unmarried, college graduates, ages 19 - 27.
-Physically demanding work requires the ability to lift 25 pounds or more routinely.
-Able to perform high quality, detailed work within assigned deadlines.
-Available to regularly work long and varied hours, some weekends and some -holidays.
-Sufficient maturity to live in community with other staff members in shared housing.
-Signed, personal agreement with Camp Cho-Yeh’s Statement of Faith and Mission Statement.

Certifications and Benefits
-Camp housing
-Meals when group are in camp
-$200 a week with a finishing bonus of $1,200
- Ropes training provided
-Lifeguard training and certification provided
-First Aid and CPR training and certification provided
