Position Summary
Mt. Gilead Camp and Conference Center is looking for female applicants to serve as Horsemanship Program Manager and Riding Instructor for its all-girls Christian Summer Camp program. Reporting to the Summer Camp Director and Program Director(s), you will further the mission of Mt. Gilead Summer Camp by assisting in the development and delivery of a horseback riding program that is safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ ages and abilities. You will also assist in the care and maintenance of the horses and equipment.

Responsibilities:
-Develop and deliver an equestrian program that is appropriate for the ages and abilities of the campers; assure campers are properly supervised at all times while enforcing safety guidelines at all times.
-Maintain high standards of health and safety for campers and staff; enforce the rules of the trail, stables, paddocks, arena and safety equipment; ensure proper utilization, care, and maintenance of equipment and facilities; and be knowledgeable about the horse ring, arena and trails available for horseback riding.
-Assist in the care and maintenance of the horses and related equipment, including all tack, stalls, etc.; conduct daily check of area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair; and assist in packing all materials and supplies at the end of the season.
-Be a reflection of Christ to all campers and staff in your attitude and behavior; follow and uphold all safety procedures including sanitation, schedule and sportsmanship; and represent and model the overall mission of Mt. Gilead Camp.
-Reside in overnight staff housing on our location in Stroudsburg, PA.
-Evaluate staff performance and then communicate results to leadership staff.
-Participate as part of the camp staff team.
-Attend meetings as needed.
-Any and all other duties as assigned

Qualifications
-Must be at least 21 years of age.
-Ability to lead activities, be a group leader and be flexible required.
-Ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity, as well as be able to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid required.

-Mature strong Christian faith, integrity, moral values and convictions
-Ability to communicate and read clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
-Problem-solving skills, exercising judgment, and making sound decisions in performing job duties
-Ability to detect unsafe equipment and actions and to take the appropriate corrective action
-Ability to exercise patience and diplomacy in dealing with camp employees, students, guest and the general public while performing investigative tasks
-A self-starter who is highly motivated and able to work unsupervised for extended periods
-Ability to handle restricted and confidential information in a professional manner and always maintain the information as such
