Mt. Gilead Camp and Conference Center is searching for a mature Christian leader to serve as our Summer Camp Nurse. The Summer Camp Nurse works collaboratively with the Leadership Staff and Summer Support Staff to lead and manage the implementation of the Summer Camp Program.
Mt. Gilead is a Christ-centered, non-profit summer camp and retreat center. Applicants should desire to be a reflection of Christs love to others - at all times. This position requires strong interpersonal skills with the ability to project a friendly attitude; work with a variety of ages and personalities; manage multiple tasks and responsibilities in an unstructured environment with frequent interruptions in a fast-paced environment.
State and federal background clearances will be required before employment begins.
Supervise health and cleanliness standards
Work with Executive Director, Summer Camp Director(s) and Staff
Help provide adequate physical health conditions for all.
Ensure each staff member and camper has on file a health history and examination form, as required set up system for health screening for arriving campers and staff, as well as a system for health screening for trips out-of-camp.
Conduct inventory of supplies and place orders when necessary.
Establish and follow appropriate medical routines including record keeping, in a daily medical log, disposal of medical waste, managing and safeguarding medications and utilizing approved standing orders.
Coordinate coverage of the health center
Post hours for daily medications and health calls
Make appointments, when necessary, with medical/dental personnel in community.
Check and issue First-aid kits throughout camp weekly
Keep accident/incident reports that can be used for risk management assessment.
Prepare a summary and evaluation of camp season including inventories staff evaluations, camper reports on health problems, and making recommendations for the following season.
Monitor/evaluate camp procedures, facilities and conditions and suggest modifications that would create more healthful conditions in camp.
Coordinates ER visits
Ability to lift/assist campers or staff
Read prescriptions and health exams from physicians
Get to remote locations on camp property quickly
Observe and assess unsanitary or unhealthy conditions of camp.
Be able to follow the correct MAR (Medication administration Records) system in place
Must be an experienced nurse
Ability to handle restricted and confidential information in a professional manner and always maintain the information as such
Basic computer skills
Excellent problem solving skills and an ability to build relationships
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to multi-task
