HoneyRock Fellows - Grounds Assistant
HoneyRock Fellows Grounds Assistant: The HoneyRock Fellowship program is for college graduates interested in exploring professional camping ministry. The Fellowship includes Wheaton College graduate classes on spiritual formation and vocational discernment, participating in the leadership development progression, community living, paid work and discipleship of Vanguard gap year students. This position will work with the Site and Facilities staff to perform facility maintenance, assist with grounds care, and work wherever else as needed. Familiarity or skill with construction and operational equipment is preferred, but not mandatory. Applicants must be qualified to drive vehicles under Wheaton College driving regulations and must be at least 18 years old.
The HoneyRock Fellows Grounds Assistants are full-time seasonal employees who work under the supervision of the HoneyRock Site and Facilities staff to perform facility maintenance, assist with grounds care, and work wherever else as needed. Familiarity or skill with construction and operational equipment is preferred, but not mandatory. Applicants must be qualified to drive vehicles under Wheaton College driving regulations and must be at least 18 years old.
Responsibilities and Duties
As a member of the HoneyRock staff team, fulfill the mission, vision and core values of HoneyRock and Wheaton College.
Engage as an active member in retreats and in-service training for the purpose of planning, information sharing, support, and personal, professional and community development.
Growth and development of Vanguards: encourage Vanguards’ growth toward wholeness in Christ as well as maturity in thought, speech and behavior and in their understanding of living together as members of Christ’s body
Policies and procedures: hold students accountable to follow the policies and procedures of HoneyRock and of Wheaton College
Maintain the HoneyRock grounds and property by mowing lawns, raking leaves, weed whacking and snowplowing
Assist the grounds and activity coordinators in building and maintaining of broomball and hockey rinks
Supervise Vanguard Gap Year students working in grounds three days per week.
Preform other duties as required.

Ability to lift at least 50lbs.
Good interpersonal skills; team player
Desire to encourage students to develop into who servants of Christ.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
Able to pass Wheaton driving test and requirements.
Previous experience in camp, adventure or outdoor-related ministries.
Willingness & ability to be flexible with the needs of the job
Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time.
Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs - increased amounts of weight may be required.
All HoneyRock Fellows positions receive a total of $4,000.00 distributed in bi-weekly payments.
All HoneyRock Fellows positions involve a program fee of $4,500.00. This fee can be paid throughout the year using the stipend or fundraised. (Recommended). The program Fee covers the cost of four graduate level credits, al course materials, CCCA Sectional Conference attendance, retreats, wilderness trips and other program expenses. They will work from the last week of August until the first week of May with the opportunity to work through the summer.
